Edge Motion™ — Changing the Way Speakers Make Sound
Loudspeaker technology has evolved slowly over the past 85 years. While there are now many speaker systems that are dramatically smaller in size, they often do not sound as good as their larger counterparts. And, because most speaker drivers need a large enclosure (or “box of air”) to sound good, most recent attempts to integrate speakers with today’s display-based electronics have resulted in compromised end products – either in terms of sound quality, package size, or both.
Our patented Edge Motion™ audio systems use a very different mechanical principle to generate sound. Instead of pushing from behind, like a traditional cone speaker does, Edge Motion™ speakers actuate a thin membrane along the side in a manner that creates an extremely efficient, piston-like motion in front. The resultant speaker system is thin and lightweight, yet it produces a rich, full sound across the audio range.

The Edge Motion™ Difference
Edge Motion™ audio systems produce sound in a completely new way that enables manufacturers of consumer electronics products to fully integrate high-quality stereo sound with the latest display technology. Although EMO™ loudspeakers are thin and lightweight, their sound is full and natural.
The Difference is Clear
Because optically transparent materials can be used for the radiating part of the speaker, we can make the entire speaker system invisible. This unique ability to effectively integrate a zero-footprint, high-quality audio solution with flat panel displays also unifies the source of both the video content and the stereo audio content. This “unification” of sound and image dramatically enhances the multimedia user experience.
